If you're part of the "we" controlling the government you don't really have much need for precious metals, just have your friend Janet print you up some more cash and hand it to you in the form of a bail-out. You're not one of those banksters masquerading as a coin collector are you?

    Rather than think of it as a melt, try to think of it as cremation, with the remains scattered and becoming part of the environment we all live in. But seriously, anything that suppresses mining, --and melting sure suppresses mining more than many can imagine-- is good long-term because eventually there is nothing left to melt at which point the price takes off.

    You should know that I'm not. I meant in theorey we control it at least far as the constitution says. Not like most politicians and lawmakers have much respect for the constitution anymore but I do

    But the smelters/refiners need stock material for their operations and they have customers wanting 999 fine bars. That 90% stuff is available for anyone to purchase and if it is priced right the smelters will buy it up if they need it.
