Let's see if I can address your questions as you directed them:

    1) How could the servants (slaves) make the coins without anyone knowing?

Well, for starters, they were servants/slaves. Who would they tell, and who would have listened to them? The tokens/coins/patterns/whatever weren't being distributed as a currency, so they wouldn't be a case of counterfeiting.

    2) How long would it take to redesign coins?

According to gallaudetfamily.com, the designs were given to Gallaudet by Franklin. How long would it take to draw something different? Even if we assume die creation and whatnot as a part of the "creation" process, Gallaudet's status as an engraver would have allowed him access to, well, other engravers. Add to this the fact that the entire relief of the "dollar" is of a single dimension, and it's a reasonable idea that the die was engraved and not sunk.

    3) How did Gallaudet get the design from Franklin?

    See answer to 1.

    4) How was the design taken with all the anti-counterfeiting / security measures in place?

Expanding on answer to 2... The engraver of the "dollar" didn't include said security measures. If you look at the CC "dollar," it's evident that the Fugio cent sunk features are absent in the "dollar" pattern.

    5) Was the coin struck in a collar?

Given that the patterns we know of have the twin leaf edge, the assumption would be that they were indeed struck in a collar. Now, I'm not entirely sure where this becomes an issue. If the collars were designed by someone who isn't Gallaudet, that doesn't change the overall story.

Also, you've yet to present anything that vaguely resembles an alternate -- and viable -- explanation.

This is supposed to be a contest. What's my prize?

For what it's worth, this is either a non-point, or you're wrong.

If you're talking about Congressional records, they didn't exist prior to 1789, so this is a non-point. It's like saying no one bothered to note in the 1789 Congress that there were test type coins made for non-circulation while the United States didn't exist yet.

If you're talking about the Library of Congress, then you're wrong on yet another point.

So, you have three choices it seems:

    1) Give me my prize.
    2) Explicitly state why my answers are incorrect within the context of ACCEPTABLE history for the numismatic community.
    3) Admit you're wrong and never had a prize available.

I win that prize far too often... I was hoping for something tangible or an admission of fault... I guess trolls have neither to give.

Definition of CONTEST. intransitive verb: strive, vie. transitive verb: to make the subject of dispute, contention, or litigation; especially: dispute, challenge

First of all if I had meant a contest with a prize i would have posted it in the contest section ....i was refering to the word in its true sense ...no wonder you are confused

I am prepared to contest ...get it now ???

Secondly ..before you speak you really should educate yourself people who blurt out things they no nothing about are only showing their ignorance

the coin Franklin designed was made to prevent counterfeiters from counterfeiting coins ...and it has several complex security features that are not noticeable unless you know what your looking for he was a pretty smart guy ...and his intentions were to fool people who were not so intelligent ...and they would not be able to easily figure out the security features by just looking at the design and if they decided to copy his design they would not have picked up on his sneaky trap and they would be caught ...

1789 you say ...well i have news for you ...your looking in the wrong places ...if you want to know the truth about the history of America and its money ....read a history book your not going to find anything in your coin books and those websites your reading .....

Ok, this stops here. Pewtertoytoken, I suggest you submit an article directly to Coin World if you feel strongly about this. I find your last post condescending. You have continued to bully individuals rather than "contest". Please read the forum rules and think about your part in the forum. Your information may be as realistic as other sources, but as written here almost seems purposely made to provoke arguments and say how uninformed or uneducated others are compared to yourself. try playing well with others.
