Anyone seen a 1982 penny like this?

  1. Got this 1982 large date philly penny out of a roll. Light pinkish with crystal like glisten. Not sure what to think of it. Any idea's? 3.1 grams

    The cent appears to have been sandblasted. It i possible that It spent time in a drain for a long time or was in the sand a the beach. It is PMD.
     
  4. That's what I was kind of thinking, but the words aren't really corroded. It's kind of like a coat of frosting or something over the whole coin.

    Environmental exposure can be uneven and can produce all sorts of unusual effects.

    I Metal Detect and have found several that look like yours at the beach. I call them sandblasted Cents. Could be either rough or smooth surface.
