Do you like it? That's all that matters. These counterstamped coins do have a following. They can be fun to collect.
What I don't get about the Lincoln/ Kennedy counterstamp is that the years have no significance. Why aren't they on 1963/1965 Lincolns? The two cents in the post are from 1972 and 1974.
No and yes.. They are considered a damaged coin due to the counterstrike done to the surface. But, there are collectors who seek these. Not much worth but lets say on Ebay maybe $2-$4 bucks

I remember these counterstamped cents being quite popular when I started collecting in the mid-1970s. They were advertised in mainstream magazines as well as the numismatic ones. The counterstamped cents I remember the best were the ones with little state outlines on them. (This of course was done a generation before the Mint got around to officially producing Statehood quarters).
