He just turned it on inside the pack and used it that way. Then he mailed his finds home as souviners. </p><p>I use an old 1970 Whites hip mounted detector. I love it and will not up grade. I don't want to know what is there, a surprize is more than half the fun.</p><p>There is more than coins and jewlery out there.</p><p>Next winter I'm going to a old camp in the desert where the Indians had the pioneers fooled and had winch set up to winch their wagons up a clift. Of course the Indians owned the winch and charged them. A large wagon train took days to move so they camped below and above waiting for the others. sound like a good place to me for some interesting finds.</p><p>Good Lord - I'm babbling like a red headed grand daughter (mine), but you asked a question dear to my heart.
