For some reason, I feel this is more modern than 1909.

Seems to coincide with the opening of the Newark (New Jersey) Museum. I wonder if there is a connection?

I found two other items, circa 1920s, of badges manufactured by the W&M Company of Newark, so that much is legit, they clearly were a metals fabricator capable of striking medals.

W & H CO. Newark, NJ - they made a lot of medals before and after 1909.

Or W&H. :) There was a company named Whitehead and Hoag, in Newark, roughly at that time ...

I looked at the medal again and it could be H and not M, however I found Google references to W & M, but was not looking for W & H. Maybe M died, and W took on H as a new partner.

There's a collectibles website called the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop, Inc., but the search and navigation is so punk that I gave up trying to find anything; they sell Lincoln memorabilia in addition to books.
