sorry this is the only pic I have. This coin belongs to a friend and Im trying to help him find out what it is.
Looks like a 1963 Thai coin of king Rama IX. If you show the reverse I can tell you the denomination.
Hey, what gives? I thought you "ancient" guys weren't supposed to know about coins like this. =) Yea it's a 1963 20 baht, in .750 silver. Worth around $15 to $20 on eBay in this condition.
Thanks to all. I spent som time searching and did find one like it, yes it is a 20 baht. Thanks again for the help.
My wife is Thai, and I have bought many Thai coins from tiger tongue money, to bullet money of kings Rama 1-5th, all the way through complete sets of coins like this and modern commemoratives trying to get her interesting in coin collecting. As an aside, this coin is dated 2506 in the Thai calendar. I always remember 2500 is 1957 for us. Their calendar is related to the Buddha, just like ours started with Jesus. Chris
