Found this penny along with a few others that have the D or S butnot were the mint mark is supose to b
Hi Kenneth. Looks to me to be just a banged up penny. Older pennies frequently have mint marks placed haphazardly. They were hand stamped into the dies, and not always in the same place, but that was before this cent.
It got scraped up a bit, exposing the zinc core to the elements, causing it to start corroding. Not a D/S.
