Well here is what I was planning on sending:

2x coins from the 2021 Reverse Proof Designer Edition

    1x 2021 CC Morgan Dollar
    1x 2021 O Morgan Dollar
    3x 2021 D Morgan Dollar
    3x 2021 S Morgan Dollar
    3x 2021 P Morgan Dollar
    & 3x 2021 Peace Dollar

Does that make sense to do? Even if 1 of 3 come back 70 it would cover the expense of grading.

Im just not sure exactly how rare the 70 grade is. But if I did send them in I would send them in without opening the brown box that the mint mails them in so they would all be untouched.

It makes sense but I would save the vouchers for a future submission and just send them as moderns.

Oh but I don’t have any future submissions and I don’t really buy raw coins so I was just considering sending these in.

But I just don’t know if MS/PF70 is like a 50/50 chance on an unopened and untouched coin or if it’s like a 1% chance to get the 70 even on a Mint sealed coin.

There's no way to answer that. Depends on the quality from the mint and which ones you get. You'll very likely have at least a couple 70s if you send that many in as long as the mint doesnt completely screw up the morgans.

If thats the only submission you're going to do its cheaper to just get the lowest membership without the vouchers. Modern is only 17 dollars a coin and the vouchers need to be used as at least 20 a coin to be worth it. Now if for whatever reason you wanted to send them all in as regular then the 8 vouchers would be the best but that would also be $38 a coin.

I would just skip the vouchers and send them as moderns

Oh ok I think I understand what you mean.

Do you know if there will be registry sets for these coins? I’ve heard the main reason people pay so much extra for 70 vs 69 is for top registry sets.

Not understanding how this would effect grading? Opening the mailing box doesn't effect the condition of the coins within the Airtites.

Registry sets impact gets highly overplayed on forums, theres always far more 70s than registry sets. A lot of people just prefer the 70s or want the best. That said yea theyll end up in a registry either being added to current ones or get their own or both

It wouldnt unless you wanted to hold the box for a while and keep it first strike eligible. It does make it easier though in terms of preparing the submission.

Well it’s just like my way of proving that the coins have not left the capsule or anything like that and they are as the Mint sent them.

If I just sent the coin in the capsule they wouldn’t know for sure if I took it out.

I know they grade the coin based on what they see but like psychologically I feel better. Kind of like how people on EBay sell them “mint sealed” and get a little bit more than if they aren’t mint sealed.

So I’d send it in like this:
    7ADC38F1-6E98-4F4D-9AAF-3CD02630E50F.jpeg

    Instead of like this:
    609CB898-4EBB-4F77-A291-1B2C4136B2D1.jpeg

Because if I was buying on EBay I would rather have the first one too so I know it wasn’t touched at all or taken out of the capsule.

Grading wise it makes no difference. The graders have absolutely no idea how you sent it.

Thats because they could still be first strike eligable etc but most importantly its the way to know it wasnt a grading reject and has a chance for a 70. Some of the raw sets are cracked out 69s or lower

But then wouldn’t it also tell PCGS that it wasn’t a cracked out 69 being resubmitted for the 70 grade?

On eBay the sellers tout their offerings in sealed govt shipping boxes to try to convince potential buyers the contents weren't already looked over for 70's and there is still a chance a 70 could be enclosed in the box.

If the coins are going to a TPG they aren't the end buyer. They don't care about the sealed box, unless you're looking to get a special attribution on the label, like First Day Issue, or First Strike, etc. Which I personally think is nothing more than a marketing ploy for a money grab.

But wouldn’t sending it sealed show to the TPGs that it isn’t a cracked out PF69 coin being resubmitted attempting for the PF70?

Also does the First Strike cost more? Because even if it doesn’t really mean anything if it doesn’t cost anything extra I’d rather have the FS than not have it.

But if it cost even $5 extra for FS I wouldn’t want to pay for it.

It makes no difference. They grade whats in front of them. It doesnt get a better grade for being in the box or a worse one for being out.

There are advantages in the sense that its easier on you to send it there and you dont have to spend more on shipping supplies, but it has no impact on the grade you'll get.

Given that your products will have wildly varying shipping dates I would recommend opening the boxes and just sending the products in the packaging. You're going to end up with several boxes from the mint thatll be an issue to get into one box to send

Yes it does, but they do bring a premium being sold and the market has shown that for years on everything. Sometimes the premium is big, sometimes its small and not worth it. Its like 18 a coin, you can watch the sales prices and decide if you think its worth it or not as it gets closer to when you send them

Good point. Do you know if TPGs send the OGP and COAs back? Or should I just send the coins in the capsules on their own?

PCGS sends it back and for extra you can have the COA graded. NGC charges you if you want it back. You could just do the capsules if you wanted which with that many will probably be the best option to keep your shipping the lowest

Ah ok thanks I’ll do that then. I’m hoping I can get at least 1x MS70 for each mint mark of the 2021 Morgan’s and the Peace Dollar so then if the extra 2 of each (except CC and O) come back MS69 I can sell them and recoup what I spent on all of them while having an MS70 set for myself.

You should likely come out ahead maybe even way ahead either way since you got the CC and the O

Well I only got 1 CC and O so I am keeping those for myself but I’m selling the 2 extra of everything else. I think it should just about cover the cost of everything but without any profit which is fine with me since it would be like I got a full set of 2021 Morgans and the Peace essentially for free.

The CC alone with the value it’s gone too is a huge win for you that you were able to get it.

Keep on eye on the COAs and see if it might be worth having them graded. My guess would be no but it’s something to worth looking at.
