Every time I dig through this collection I find another interesting coin. This is a true piece of history in a very turbulent time in the south. This made a statement in it's day. I wish I had a better camera.
I have seen other tokens that represent the 100th anniversary of the Civil War with the depiction of the reverse die that was engraved by A.H.M. Patterson in 1861 It’s like a wooden nickel, only stamped in metal and good for 50¢ instead of a nickel. They were handed out at business, parades, banks, etc. to promote the event. Nice collectable.
