I do search for old threads on relevant subjects here all the time. I love showing off new coins here and seeing other members' new coins. How many people are truly "above" all that? And the accompanying write-ups (and comments) here are often as academic as the posts at FORVM. The difference is that nobody posts at FORVM just to show off a new coin unless it's an unpublished variety, or there's a question about the mint or the dating or the coin's authenticity.

I've belonged to FORVM for years -- I don't seem to be banned, by the way! -- and find Numiswiki and many articles and posts there to be absolutely essential resources. But I've never posted, not even once, because I find the place way too intimidating given the "serious" focus and the heavy moderation -- for example, not being permitted to mention specific dealers, in either a positive or negative way. I guess I'm just insufficiently intellectual and academic for the place![/QUOTE]
