Anyone collecting the America the Beautiful Quarters?

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

I really like the ATB's. I've got 4 albums going (PDSS). When the program is over, I'll be giving them to my niece, nephew and grand children.

I'm also laying in some extra mint rolls, you never know what the future might hold for them.

I had bought some 2010 bags from the mint. I recently opened some and found that they all had toned to a deep champagne color (I can't get the color in my photos, so I'm sorry that I can't show them to you).

I'm going with rolls and proof sets from the mint now because they are cheaper than the bags and I really don't need 1000 of each coin.

Guam and Samoa are part of the state quarter program and much easier to find in circulation.

My main interest in these are the Civil War related coins. It was a good year for those with the Vicksburg (my favorite) and Gettysburg quarters, not to mention the Grant and Johnson dollars and first spouse coins.

One thing I think makes the ATB's better than the state quarters is that thick ring around the reverse. Something about that ring makes me love them. It just brings them all together, like I'm collecting a series, instead of a bunch of separate states.

COMPLETELY agree! The border they put around the outside is what really caught my interest too! Makes them look higher quality as well.

I love the border idea. It separates the words from the design. THe state quarters just looked to cluttered with it all together. Plus, it looks like a framed picture.

Oh yeah, I've been finding quite a few of them, just found my first Glacier Denver mint quarter. I have to resort going on eBay to get the Philly mint ones for the album. In contrast to the State quarters, the mintage of the ATB's is dramatically lower, which will eventually enhance the long term valuation as more collectors come around.

I'm building 3 albums of the ATB's, (P,D,S,S) and also getting a roll of each release from the mint. I think the designs are beautiful, and you can appreciate them so much more on the 5 oz. silver version.

I have found only about 3 US territory quarters in circulation and so far, no ATB quarters.

Thats a disappointment :( I love finding them in my change!
I wish it wasn't so hard for everyone else. Its always more fun to find coins rather than buy them. More of a suprise, ya know?
But that will be a very amazing collection. Goodluck :)
