I bought a small one years ago and used it for a digital deer camera enclosure. They were pretty nice back then. Knowing what they are, I decided to take a look at them again.

In short, the new cases are unbelievable. They always were indestructible. Really, they are practically unbreakable. They're dust proof and water proof. They have an automatic purge valve on them to release the air when you close it, so I'm guessing they're very nearly air tight. They have a rubber gasket that goes around the rim to seal them. They also come in 38 different sizes with foam inserts inside also. Temp specs on them are -10 to 220 degrees F.

I purchased a 1200 off ebay for storing Whitman folders in. It's the perfect size. I have 6 in it now with room enough for at least 2 or 3 more before they fit tight between the foam. With a little extra room for loose stuff. It was 47.00 shipped and these new ones are solid as a rock. The latches are really heavy duty. Pelican makes these cases for government agencies.

I'm going to in turn put my case in my fireproof safe. If anybody has never heard of them, I recommend you check them out. Just google Pelican cases or search for them on ebay.

Your best bet is to go to their website, pick the size you're looking for, then you know the model # and then search for that model # on ebay or where ever. I think these cases are worth every penny.

The only thing is, I have no idea what the foam inside is made of or if it possibly could be damaging to coins. You can get them without foam. I got mine with because it's really nice stuff. If I notice problems, I'll remove the foam.

Thought this might help some people worried about water or damage from humidity and what not.
