I have used them on a regular basis and never had a problem. They can be a bit slow at times but I am never in a rush. I stopped using ICG when I realized that resale can be somewhat hard when it comes time to sell. I don't use PCGS as the expense is too much for my limited budget and I don't know anyone locally that I can piggyback on. But in the end you have to at least try once or twice to see how it works for you. Not everyone is of my opinion.
Nope. I buy an occasional Morgan in the old white slabs if I like the coin, but I've never submitted anything to them. Also, I believe the poster who started the other thread bashing ANACS, also started a similar thread on the NGC boards a while back with similar, if not the same, accusations about ANACS.
I've used them and my experience was fine. I only stopped because it was a couple dollars more to have PCGS plastic instead.
I used them on their Holiday Special. I was satisfied with the turn around time and their packaging and shipping.
Never had a problem with them. 3 submissions so far in the last few months. Two blazing fast turn around times and one order that shipped 1 day after the estimated time listed. Not to bad IMO.
Used them once for a promotion. My only problem with them is they graded my 3 coins worse than NGC had them graded! Darn it.
I have done very well with them. They are very nice folks, and very approachable to the larger shows. Stop by, and say hi.
How do you guys find verifying ANACS certs? I had trouble with that a few times. Haven't checked lately. Not sure if their database is working.
Worst resale in the business combined with terrible customer service make it a losing bet. Don't save a few bucks today and lose a lot more at resale. ICG is far better at customer service and turn-time. Plus they are building a business, where ANACS is alienating customers if they have the gall to call about an issue. In my opinion, ANACS are spoiled prima donnas at best and given a choice, most collectors will find other grading companies more competent and user-friendly.
I called in to inquire. They are working on a new website, including new database. There is no timeline or end date, it's just ongoing... who knows, could take forever. I have about ten ANACS slabs, pulled six out and only one displayed a result under the current database link.
I can top that -- they graded one of my coins lower than @GDJMSP did! They also gave me a details grade (cleaned) on a Barber half after two of three dealers who examined it in-hand said they thought it was a no-problem coin. It's a semi-key date, and I'm toying with the idea of trying to cross it to NGC or PCGS. There's enough potential value involved that some extra grading expense might be a worthwhile gamble.
I started using Anacs recently, and I got a pleasant result out of a; corroded VG 1885 liberty nickel. What some might say 'The Queen of the Victory Nickels'
I haven't had any problems with ANACS. Their specials can be worthwhile and they run show-only economy specials at the shows local to me so it's easy to submit in person. Turnaround times are ok. I've never had to use their customer service. I find their grades tend to be generous (within reason), however, they don't net grade and will quickly hand out a details designation.
