Firstly...this new format seems unresponsive. I try a "Reply with Quote" and it just dies.

Chris, I've never opened any of the paint cans since my Father sealed them up in the '60s. I was pretty young at the time so I don't remember much, but I do remember the Mint bags having some sort of seal on them. I watched my Father wrap each of the bags in aluminum foil before placing them into the paint cans.

He used to take rolls of Franklin halves and Washington quarters and roll them in aluminum foil before placing them back into their paper rolls. I have at least a hundred rolls like that. I don't know what's in them because he didn't marked the rolls, but I suspect they're early '60s because he would get them at the bank when they first came out.

I have no idea what shape the penny bags are in now...except that they weren't moved but a few times...twice by me. A 100 years from now they may turn out to be red gems or black POS's...who knows? ...but I'm not about to mess with them now.

Edit: ...interesting note. If you wrap up something with a rubber band today, you can come back six months later and the rubber band will have completely deteriorated. The rubber bands my Father used to wrap coin rolls in the '60s are like they just came out of the package! ...completely intact...you can still use them!
