Anybody buy the LS1 Proof Set 2012?

    Your analysis is correct...........except for the part where the Lincoln Chronicles set "used" to regularly sell for $179.95 on the aftermarket.

    Sounds like the prices are coming down to me which is as it will be.

    And they'll probably sell quite a few at those prices since their customer base is just too stupid/dumb/ignorant to change the channel.

    I made the mistake from buying from the mint and not at my local coin guy on the legacy sets.

    I made no reference to what it "use to sell" for. I stated that they are currently going for about double their initial retail, which is still a valid point to be made, so my analysis is not incorrect. Yes they have cooled off, but that is the trick of buying something to flip. You have to flip it when the demand is high.

    I decided not to purchase this item because from my perspective, like others here, this set was a combination of many different sets. The first thing that I thought of was that the mint was trying to clean house before inventory time.
