I just got a WW2 Banque d'etat du Maroc bill in the mail. It's in a bubble 000 envelope and the guy paid $1.88 to send it. It's got "FCM" all over it - don't know what that's about.

But this is for one small banknote that's about the size of three postage stamps. Sent in a bubble mailer. $1.88.

Two days ago, I sent 12 Kennedys for $1.90 in the same sized bubble envelope.

I suppose that means "First Class Mail"... but I don't know for sure.

I've mailed things using USPS for 45 years. I have no indication they fouled up a single one of them. Not a bad batting average ! :D

About a year ago I received a postage due envelope in the mail it was a dime I puchased on ebay. So I went to the local post office to ask WHY they QUESTIONED what the post office in Virginia charged to mail it. That was the start of a number of problems which caused me to abandon the local post office for one in another town. I also e-mailed the seller out of curiosity and he told me that over the past couple of years he mailed out over 4,000 packages identical to mine and he never had one arrive postage due before. That tells me the local post office here is their own little ...feifdom-kingdom... that needs to be spanked.

I just cant say enough about the wonderful postal system we have. This is a pic. of my 5th "WE CARE " package for the year. I'm anxious to see if they can make it 6 before the end of the year...........OF COURSE THE CONTENTS WERE GONE!!!!!!!..BUT AT LEAST THEY CARE.

If the buyer is paying postage, just charge the higher rate that the post office charges you and move along. Unless ofcourse you use shipping & handling to pad your profit margin. If you don't ...who cares. The buyer pays and you ain't out diddly sqaut.

Yes, FCM does mean First Class Mail.

I'm lucky, I have a great bunch of folks at my local post office. They are as frustrated by the new rules as we are. I'm sure they don't enjoy being on the receiving end of the questions which are not often asked with any courtesy at all. I have found that in general, if you can empathize with USPS workers, they will treat you well.

On the other hand, it appears that Lakeshore has a real bunch of "winners".

Full disclosure: My dad worked in the Postal Data Center in New York for a number of years (he retired 10+ years ago). When the payroll checks for employees in 13 states and Puerto Rico were not done on time, it was our house that got the "2AM wakeup call." I still have relatives in the USPS. One of them writes "Hi" on my mail every so often...
