In no way are the terms misleading save for when those who misunderstand them mislead themselves.

Sorry if my posts are pointless, which i know they are. On a serious note guys, we're all in it for the same cause. Are personal attacks really necessary, especially over a computer.

Sat back for awhile and watched as the comments have been posted. There are a few attacks on me so I need to respond to set the record straight.
    (1) Guilty concerning the contract. I simply signed up at the Orlando coin show based on what was told to me by their represenative. Surely I know to read 100 thousand words in the middle of a busy coin show before signing anything.
I feel certain that the other poster reads instead of taking someones word. Wow, what ever happened to that? So I am guilty and I suppose that gives the company rights to take as long as they want. In my mind though it just doesn't seem like good business practice. Which then leads me to the attack of not being a good business man. Not guilty on that. Google me in wikipidea business. I own some 20+ companies and just one of them in the past 15 years has done over 55 million dollars. I am the sole owner. So mr poster you should read and research before you make unfounded and untrue comments. Oh, and I am in the legal field as well....clearly bait & Switch. I didn't post their email..didn't see any reason too nor is that a good practice, but the email content sealed the situation. I haven't decided on any course of action. I was just inquiring if this was a known practice by them. Didn't mean to ruffle feathers on this friendly forum.

Forgot to add that I never contacted them after waiting since 2-3-12. But out of nowhere I received the email that they could get them out to me in 14 days if I paid $15 each note. That email arrived without ANY complaints from me. I also said that I felt like contactin the A/G. Am I? No, just felt like it though. At this juncture I am just waiting to see how long they will take in returning my notes. When I finally get them back I will post the turnaround time here. There is a legal term "res ipsa loquitor" which will apply when I make that post.
Its funny how things happen. Judging by a poster on this forum I am some type of Whiner idiot. Why? How did this 65 year old man get this way you ask? Because a young man got my attention and asked me to join up. Otherwise I would not be in this situation. I failed to eat my wheaties that day..didn't wear my contract reading britches either, and worst yet somone behind me was getting angry at the time I was taking asking questions holding him up from signing. Surely I deserve what may ever become of me and my dealings with PMG. Bad day-that day it turns out.

For the record Krispy, Frank is not the one that banned you at the other forum, so get "your" facts straight. And yes, that statement is a fact! You see I am the grudge bearing thug who banned you and it was not an irrational move on my part. I have to say.. you earned it. : ) Wear the badge proudly.

I have read posts about the wait times for graded items.
After a submission or two you will expect the delay's or you will pay for it to go faster.
I think because it is your free ones it takes longer too btw.
And I've read many times that they are looking for graders but trying to stay a top grading company and hiring new employees probably are counterintuitive.

Being new to the submission game get ready for some disappointment in your grades too :D
As I have seen many a post on that topic too lol

After reading your post immediately preceding this one, I was just about to ask you what prompted PMG to send the e-mail. Even though Krispy disagrees with me, I would call the company to speak to one of the execs. If for no other reason than to express my disappointment about this practice of offering expedited handling for an additional fee, thereby, diluting the incentive they offer for joining. I would let them know how I felt about it.........in a civil manner, of course.

For what it is worth, I've found that the absolute worst times to submit anything is around the time of a big show when a grading service is attending, around the holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year or when the Mint releases new products. There always seems to be a big rush for submitters to be the first to offer them for sale, make them available for holiday gift-giving or for those collectors wanting to fill their registry sets. In the past, I have timed my submissions to avoid the "deluge" and I've never had my submissions go beyond the original turnaround estimates.

Actually, at this point, I'd like to hear what the company response might be. Two reasons, one I dislike marketing ploys which is what I suspect and two, I'd like to know how the company informs customers who call inquiring, in a time frame that I consider to be premature. While the OP suggests the email from PMG "came out of the blue", and to his rather superficial approach to PMG and their policies, that may be the only way he can see it on his limited experience in this matter, I would strongly suppose its likely attributed to a marketing ploy. That is, I'm suspecting (no proof, just a hunch) that once your notes have been in their system due to back log customers are sent an additional offer to upgrade their submission for quicker processing. There's no reason anyone should misconstrue that actual 'back log' that causes one's notes to be further delayed as any kind of 'bait and switch', there's simply no proof that anyone on this thread can offer to suggest that's the case, especially when other individuals and companies themselves may actually be paying the extra service fees offered to them too, to jump ahead of Economy submissions.

'Ecomony' and 'Economy Special' is pretty much like flying coach on a commercial passenger jet, you get on and off the plane last, sit in uncomforatble seats anticipating your exit from the aircraft as soon as you are locked down, spend the entire flight behind those who paid more or upgraded to business or first class, and you get what you paid for, the lowest, slowest level of service.

Chris, I'm not so sure that your own experience with turnaround times is a valid indicator regarding how to deal with the uncertainty of turnaround times, not when based on the fluctuation of this company's work flow for factors cited, otherwise they wouldn't be approximating and providing estimates nor would you be the only one to have figured out when was the best time to submit for avoiding the deluge and effectively getting your notes turned around in the least time for presumably the least amount of money spent on grading fees. While I don't doubt you got your submissions in a timely manner as you suggest, I don't think there is any way to ensure your method was scientific and applicable to the OP or any other.

Well Chris, you know what, your FWIW example there looks just like what I said before (much earlier in this thread) about the reasons for uncertainty of incoming work flow to PMG, because the examples you cite show pretty much an entire calendar year worth of events related to possible increased submissions to TPGs, be it for notes or coins. If we are talking coins as you inserted in this paper money discussion by talking about US Mint products, then Yes, the US Mint does release a lot of inventory that floods the TPGs with service requests. Heck, I even cited a holiday that played a part in delaying the 'working day estimate' for PMG's turn around time. Convention-type numismatic shows where TPGs are in attendance and advertise accepting walk-in submissions, happen across the country quarterly, if not monthly at some points in the year. As so big name signature auctions that are also an ongoing circuit placing bulk submission demands on the limitations of TPGs staff. Those auction houses are not waiting around for some 100+ days to get submission back-- so of course they are likely to impact a individuals submission. Those free submission coupons are just prepaid certificates sold to new members as incentive to join. They are not a red flag for PMG to purposefully delay a submission. How else would they maintain individual basis collector membership if that were the case? It's a mute point as it's not provable to be a delaying factor. Also, let us consider the growth of international submissions. This is an increasing level of demand that's placed on TPG services as these companies branch out to other markets.

Pretty much everything I had offered earlier is slowly tricking into other responses in this thread, some of which are finally on-topic, as opposed to trying to take useless swings at me because I interpreted the original post as just another uninformed newbie rant that solicited sympathy, demanded recompensation but which was easily quashed with facts, facts that too few were willing to accept.

So let's here what the company has to say? Why is it that the OP who has 'sat back and watched this thread' now opted not to follow through on the advice of calling the company to inquire. It's evident that after all the information was laid out and explained to him, he has other factors to consider and be hesitant about calling the company. But, throw caution to the wind, and let's here all sides of this? If this is such an important issue, then the OP could do a little more, in light of his admission for how little he's done before getting into this to get to the bottom of what's going on in the thread he felt strong enough to start on this topic.

I thought I was done with this thread, but I would like to add one last thing. I've seen a few places where people refer to Steve's submissions as "free", and that's why they're taking so long. This is just one of my many peeves. (Not that any of you refer to it as free, but that they do).

    Did money change hands? Yes.

Were these gradings part of the deal? Yes.

Then they aren't "free". He just paid for them up front with his membership.

I would think it would be in PMG's best interest to give priority service to someone in Steve's position...

They were free in that he didn't pay the submission fees, which are normally charged to the service's members, and would have been in addition to his membership fees.

No different than what any TPG does.
