Mine is usually the same ole stuff. Today in Yuma Arizona, there were two interesting pieces. A Hong Kong 2005 Disney Grand Opening round. A 1991 100 Yaun (12 ounce round) about 3" in diameter.
I don’t have any photos but I haven’t been to my LCS since before my knee surgery. They add sways have interesting items. They have a large selection of bars and rounds and they also have a nice selection of Sterling Silver. They have an entire tray of Sterling rings with all of these types of items at spot plus a few dollars. I have bought and resold many in my antique shop.
Stopped by the local pawn shop, which has been VERY dry for coins over the last few months. They had a bag of 18 silver dimes for $49.95, about the standard markup -- but this one looked more interesting, with some Barbers and some sparkly Mercs. It turned out that most of the Mercs were cleaned, and all the Barbers were post-1900 P mints worn down to G or lower, so no sale. They also had an inaugural medal that looked (and was priced as) silver. As best I can tell, it's something made by Medallic Art Co, and if that's true, it's .999 and north of five ounces. I forget if the price was $150 or $175. I may swing back by today and double-check, and also check the edge to verify that it's .999. If so, I'll see if I can talk them down to something close to spot -- the folks pictured were, um, not ones that the majority of coin collectors and bullion folks favor, so I don't see it getting much of a premium when it's time to sell.
I made it by the local G&S store today. Looked at that 1991 Panda, it was a 5 ounce 50 Yuan... I previously thought it was a 100 Yuan. Looks bigger than 5 ounces, but I took a few pictures to research. Shop owner was asking $250. In my searching it looks like a proof only coin and a mintage of 4000. Someone must have broken up a set. Price was a little rich, but the owner said he bought it from a Long time buyer that was in a bind and gave him $220 to help him out but couldn't do any better. Pretty generous buyback price I thought. There are some hairline cleaning scratches and toning. I left it there. But if someone here really needs it? Shoot me a message.
The owner of my LCS always has some interesting items. He just showed me an 1800 XF-45 half dime with a green bean, an 1885 AU-53 business strike three cent piece and a Judd 837 1870 dime that is graded PRF-64. Always something interesting in his cases. I've known him for over 40 years.
