I got this in a penny roll. And just wanting to know I'll probably be sending into pcgs.

    Hi:)

Imho, what did you want to know?
    Is it circulated and damaged.
    Yes.

Normal beat up circulated cent, no reason to send to PCGS. Copper coins can be a wide range of colors depending on what has happened to them over the years.

Let us know what they attributed it as. Also let us know how much money you wasted in doing so.

Who told you it was rare? Did you read about it in "Strike It Rich With Pocket Change"? If so, throw the book away.

Your 69S isn't rare. The San Francisco Mint made 544,375,000 of them.

It is the very obvious Doubled die variety of that date/mint that is rare and valuable.

    The exact opposite of rare.

Over a half billion were minted so why is it rare? It's environmental damaged. Sending in it to grade it is a waste. It's only worth a cent and I'd spend it.

I read that this Lincoln Cent is rare. Because the secret service was confiscating them because back then the mint thought they were counterfeit but later admitted that they were not.

Only the very rare 1969-S Doubled Die Cents are rare.

As stated above, over 500 Million of them were minted as normal
coins - which your coin is. You can spend it.

    Just because a car has four wheels doesn't mean it's a Rolls-Royce.

I'm not a true Lincoln Cent collector but I do have some. As for a 1968-S, I have a brand new BU roll tucked away somewhere so they are common.

This is the one you want. The one you have is normal.
