Somebody else bought it, as it happens. Maybe I tipped them off with the discussion threads about it. The buyer got it for less than $35.
Imagine my surprise when a large Priority Mail bubble mailer arrived today (wow, $10.60 to mail a single small coin when one stamp would’ve worked!) I wasn’t expecting anything. Inside was the silver cob from the original post in this thread. It came from @paddyman98 , who, it seems, is the one who bought the coin… and just gave it to me! Never mind that I’ll eventually be giving it away myself, in a future forum giveaway. It was still an exciting and fun surprise for me! Public shout-out and thanks to @paddyman98 ! There was one small mishap. In opening the oversized package with scissors, I accidentally lopped off the dated corner of the old 1943 coin envelope. Yikes. But I taped it back together, and the coin is unharmed.
