What do you think this 1861 Nova Scotia half cent will grade.

There is some unusual toning on the back. Also, I paid 25 cents for this beauty :)

The stain on the reverse a Tpg grading services may not like.
Otherwise it's a Very nice coin!

    I would say, AU-50.

I would say AU-50, probably evn a little higher. The "toning" appears to be something may have spilled on it or it got a few drops on it and ran. Most US TPG's wouldn't like it, but ICCS (Canadian) only gives technical grades. "Trends" pricing in Cdn dollars jumps to over $100 at MS-60. You got a bargain at a quarter.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

In the US scale, it would be a mid-range AU (53 maybe?). In the British scale, it would be EF.

Well you heard it, now. ICCS is a good service. They're Canadian, but not restricted to Canadian. Your problem is you've been playing in the wrong plastic. ;)

Why don't you send it off to ICCS? Their reputation is built on authenticating and grading Canadian coins. Angelo would know better than I, though, whether that stain would be an issue for them.

I guess it is worth a try! I only paid 25 cents, I heard that they are very good coins like this, first off, do you need a membership for it and where is the website?

Also, I have about 140 Canada Large cents, around 100 are Victoria, and around 10 look to be high AU to low BU.
