    It would have been useful to note that the coin is encased in lucite at the beginning. Common practice for toned, dark and/or ugly coins to be buffed until shiny prior to being encased.

    You may notice a faint "halo" around some of the legends, and in small enclosed spaces like the loop on the R. This is what happens when coins or buffed or polished. The cloth or other medium doesn't reach into these tiny spaces and they are left without the super shiny look that the wide open spaces get.

    Lucitite - the mineral created when Lucite is incinerated in a nuclear explosion.
