[QUOTE="geekpryde, post: 1920821, member: 36248"]Well I went to 7 different Orlando area coin shops. Two were absolutely horrendous, dark, scary, NO inventory, smoky, scary biker dudes running the places; they were obviously fronts for some sort of money laundering operation, as I had more pocket change than these "coins shops" had coins for sale. (the stores were related to one another).

Next place was mostly a low-end junk / jewelry store, but with some coins. Mostly bullion, junk silver. It was funny because the guy agreed to bring out all the slabbed coins he had when I asked but 70% of them were NGC problem coins that were < $200, the rest were common date Peace and Morgans. Funny, as that was the high-end stuff under lock and key. The guy was nice enough and sold my wife a cheap ring, so it worked out.

Next place was more of a antique store but with some raw common date Peace, Morgan, Franklins, and bullion. Nothing there for me, but my son did like the swords and daggers they had. My wife simply said "no."

Another store has plenty of inventory, nice people, and nice graded coins. I spent some time there and saw a nice CAC certified Pine Tree Shilling for $6000. Alas, they did not have a cheap CAC coin that I needed, but they did probably have 10 or so CAC coins for sale. You were locked out and locked in, and there was even a Sheriff in there, checking in and talking coins. This was the most professional place I saw, but it was still not the Coin Mecca I was expecting for such a large city. I visited some awesome comic books stores and CCG / gaming stores, which were great. Where are the great mega coin shops in Orlando?

Next store was 90% camera store and 10% coins, mostly raw stuff and some low end graded Morgans and Peace, along with some coins in strange basement slabs. This was another shop that kept all the graded coins in the safe out back and I had to ask to see them. The guys was very nice, but had to meet my wife and only stayed maybe 15 minutes. The guys gave me a GREAT tip on the way out, which was to head t down the road to a store called "Ancient Artifacts" which he said would be good for my wife, my sons, and me!

He was so right! A coin shop / rock shop / jewelry shop / artifact shop. We could have spent a lot more money and time there.
