Any familiarity or experience with Ashcraft Coin of Springfield Illinois?

This is a dealer who offers very attractive prices on silver bullion particularly if you are willing to delay delivery for a period of time. I'm a new shopper and am unsure of who to trust. This dealer has only a couple of years in this business but possibly has a reputation in some other area. I see that the dealer is a member of Coin Talk. I think what would be most helpful to me would be some objective criteria for evaluating the risk that I might be taking by transacting with this vendor. Any comments from experienced bullion consumers?

Thanks for the interest! Most people will probably respond with their opinion... which will vary wildly... as things often do with coins and bullion, but unless they have ordered from me, keep in mind that is all it is... opinions. ;)

There may be a few here who will be willing to post some actual feedback from transactions with Ashcraft Coin, but I am unsure.

My public contact email is on the order page if you want to contact me directly with questions.

    Thanks,
    Michael

By the way, Apmex is top-notch and I can vouch for them! LOL

Also, Tulving, but you will need a good bit of change to order there.

    Thanks,
    Michael

Interesting website you have there. I'll take a look to see what you have....

Is this the outfit that advertises that they sell silver below spot? Because they want to build a customer base or subscription list or something like that?
    --------------
Delay delivery? Contingent upon delayed payment as well or....?
    -------
Or how 'bout this: YOU send me the silver and I'll 'delay pay' you for it. Then if it goes up I can sell elsewhere and pocket a profit. If it goes down, well let's just not dwell upon unpleasant things.

My biggest beef with ALL online dealers is shipping delays. You tag my card for a charge, I expect my product in the mail, end of discussion.

APMEX is making some serious improvements in this area but they still have a way to go to get product shipped next business day on a consistent basis. Unfortunately, they're the only ones who even remotely attempt to ship quickly.

Next day or 2 day shipping would be great! I've been happy with their shipping. If I order on Monday, I'll most likely get it Friday/Saturday. It doesn't really matter if they charge the card Monday, the payment gets paid off the next billing cycle anyways.

I also have been reading into ti.
Its an interesting policy could you explain how it works fully?
I buy lots of junk silver and morgan coins and other than that cheap silver bars from lebanon and saudi arabia, but It would be easier to deal with someone in the US.

I was going to try to avoid replying within this thread to avoid continued bumping, but seeing as I have been addressed directly and this thread is at the top now... didn't think it would look very good not to reply either. :)

By the way, my public contact address is bullion ~AT~ ashcraftcoinDOTcom (obfuscated to avoid spam bots), if anyone wants to contact with questions. Most answers are already found on the order page or in the terms.

    Thanks, appreciate it. :)

Hmmm... not sure I like the connotation of this post. "outfit" ... "LOL"

Payment is due immediately at current market prices. Everything is clear up front... including price, terms, and time frame... explicitly chosen by the buyer.

I understand this was not in reference to Ashcraft Coin specifically, but in defense of bullion dealers everywhere... I think it may be a little unreasonable to expect every order shipped out the very next day.

The logistics often are at odds with that desire... it is not as simple as it sounds to ship large amounts of silver going all over the country. It takes some practice and experience to get it down to a science... and even then, it is not easy move all the stuff around. ;) Also, if a dealer clearly discloses shipping time, then it is up to the buyer to weigh whether the price is worth it or not and order... or don't.

Now, as far as Ashcraft Coin and the concept of delaying delivery... again, the time frame is explicitly chosen by the buyer.

Apmex and Tulving are the fastest I have found. Compared to most bullion dealers... these guys are huge and have the experience and infrastructure in place to handle it. Tulving Co is actually faster and, mostly, ship out the next day and send it Overnight Shipping, but you have to have the money to play the game. ;)

I don't want to be too self promotional here. Please see my email address above. That being said...

It works like most any other dealer. The details are spelled out on the order page and in the terms. Basically, you select your preferred shipping time frame and get Pricing Discounts appropriate to that time frame. We select the product from our sources and order appropriately to fulfill orders. (all .999 fine in BU or great condition) Other than that, it is pretty standard.

Everyone, please feel free to email me specific questions not answered on the order page or in the terms. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Michael

First off, I don't mean to revive this thread to start up a flame war... but I have just recently come across this website and as the OP pointed out, its prices are very attractive. I've looked into this website a bit and everything I see looks legit, and the poster of Ashcraft, the owner I assume, above has very sound arguments and seems upstanding (here and on other forums where he was forced to defend his business model). However, before I throw down some money on 100oz of silver I was hoping someone on this forum has had actual dealings with this company and wouldn't mind giving a testimonial. Considering this thread is about a year old now I hope more people have tried his services and can offer some insight into their experiences.

    Thanks.
