You're right. We're (all) wrong. You should submit this, then give it to Heritage. You'll make millions with this naturally monster toned beauty.
It's not my cuppa tea, but I don't hate it, either. It doesn't automatically scream "AT!" to me from what I can make out in those shaky pictures, but bear in mind that I do not collect "rainbow-toned" Morgan dollars, so I usually only detect the more blatant cases of AT. I prefer to let the third-party grading companies give their opinions, and I live with whatever they say on that score. If there are any "experts on toning", I'd say a lot of them work at PCGS and NGC and yes, even ANACS too.
I guess thats why the experts mark cleaned coins they are grading, with "details" it retained its fresh from the mint luster after being dipped ?yes I know a gem uncirc can be AT, but no way can it have sparkling mint frosted luster, which i see peeking out from under colors or this cartwheel spin.becomes dull, dark mirror like finish which this dont have.
Thanks!! you might be seeing how busy the coin looks, hence making it look blurry only her cheek and neck area not been covered yet by toning , and do have a straight on photo, there are several perfect shots of this, just looks blurry from so much color distraction I think, thanks for your opinion appreciate it!
I'm not going to get caught up in the debate on whether this coin is AT or NT. I have my opinion, but it serves no purpose. If the OP wants to disagree with everyone, here, that is his right, but I think this 2-page thread is a total waste of time. Chris
Do the grading company's have a standard on how we should dip and clean coins? how would u know that for sure? never seen a graded coin that said "properly cleaned" dipping will lower the grade or get the coin a details grade, dipping will most always will remove luster, most collectors wont dip or clean a coin not ever.
Wherever you are getting your information from that's completely incorrect. Dipping doesn't lower grades nor does it remove luster or cause details grades when done properly.
who said anything about making millions? just a unusual color and pattern that all. some can appreciate, others question it. no big deal.
believe me there are hand full of collectors who would never dip a coin for any reason, then there are the casual collectors who are always cleaning their coins and no big deal to them. can u point me in the direction of how to properly clean or dip your coins and still get a grade without "details"?
I am guessing AT. wait for more experienced opinions. toned beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I am not liking the color, but others here might like it. good luck with it.
Us Casual collectors don't give out that info. An expert such as yourself would never do such a thing.
thanks for calling me a expert, but really im not, your confusing serious collector with expert, two groups im talking about... casual collector vs the serious collector, serious collector would never clean a coin for no reason, you cant understand that. then your not serious.
Dipping isn't cleaning. Serious collectors would conserve coins when required but serious collectors would know that
