Was curious if anyone had an explanation about this coin selling for 167x high estimate. http://www.stacksbowers.com/BrowseA...bid/805/AuctionID/6106/Lot/54020/Default.aspx
Chinese are big on luck superstitions. Likely not bidding on the coin, but the supposed luck of owning something that belonged to a noted successful person. There have been threads on the premiums for a certain provenance. I think this may be an extreme case of that.
I'm lost on why it was sold so high. I guess it's somewhat scarce to see such 20 cash coin in unc condition despite the altered color. I've compared to my example which I have in both copper and brass. I guess the only major difference is with the waves where I have three strokes in most of the waves whereas this example only has two in each wave.
