I found this today. My best estimate is that it might be the 1972 DDO-003 variety. The markers are hard to see because of the wear. It does have a die chip on the rim similar to the DDO-004 though. What do you think?
Nice DDO. Great pics. Are you using an HP Supercharged Spectrum Analyzer with dual exhausts? I have been trying to get your results for years with a computer. I'm too cheap to invest in a good setup. What do you use?
I hate to spur up anything, but what is the possibility of this being DDO-008 rather than DDO-003? I only say this because it seems to fit DDO-008 a little better, especially with the die gouge dot and die gouge over the first and last Ts in TRUST. http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/1972PDDO008.htm Interested to see others opinions.
Yes, I believe you're right. Scrutinizing the coin and the pictures it does seem to match up better with the DDO-008.
Just an iPhone XR for the pictures of the whole coin. I balance it on a box to keep it steady. For the closeups I use a cheap $10 USB microscope. The only complaint I have on it is the resolution of the pictures was supposed to be higher, but it's only 640 x 480 and some sites require better quality pictures and won't even let you upload them.
