Yes sorry for deviating from the surplus of top favorites of the year (which are phenomenal). I need some help in finding information on RIC III 852a. I've been trying to find something about the coin for the past couple o' days and have found nothing in terms of background information, what was the purpose of this coin and any other data that would be helpful for making a writeup for this coin. All I've been able to find are auction results and ID info... Maybe I'm blind? Please help!
this coin, which shows the Emperor sacrificing, is a "vota decennalia" type. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decennalia It was also issued around the same time as the ninth centenary of Rome in A.D. 148
Part of the entry for A.D. 147- 148 in BMCRE (Coins of the Roman Empire in the British Museum) “147- 148. TR P XI. The year is devoted to celebrations of the ‘vota decennalia’, honoured by games (‘Primi Decennales’) and to the undertaking of vows for a second decennium. A fifth liberality is given in honour of the occasion.”
