I have a new coin that I am sending to CONECA or ANACS this week. She is a butte. https://www.cointalk.com/media/1879p-morgan-superb-toning-and-color-sharp-details.19798/
Very Pretty one Don't make me break out the album of evil AT morgans (strangely not hard to find new examples to add lol)
Thank you for the comment. I recently became interested in Morgan VAMs, I have pretty much been a Lincoln Cents error kind of guy. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/. My primary interest lies with doubled-dies, and deep rainbow-lie-toned coins, a specific classification of error that captivates the artist in me. I hope to find a nice Morgan doubled-die one day. The history of the beginnings of the Morgan dollar is richly described in the current Red Book. A super complimentary resource is VAMWorld, http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/Home. This brings me full circle whereas error coins are concerned, the old faithful, and very informative to the CerryPicker's Guide. I need to update mine (Vol. 4), I have been away from collecting for a while. Break out your ATs! I'd like to see some of them. I also have begun to get involved with CONECA again. This is going to be a slow process with me due to schedule, etc., but I was surprised at the (seeming) lack of interest in Morgan VAMs and the like in their forums. https://board.conecaonline.org/social-groups . I guess CoinTalk is the place to be.
While CONECA is a great resource.. For Morgan VAMs your best bet is VAMWorld2.0 http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/Morgan_VAMs_by_Date As for the Lye toned coins.. hehe might have a couple for you...
Those are really cool photos. Thanks for sharing. Are lye-toned coins artificially toned, or natural?
AT Lye is a mild acid that reacts with silver... I don't do these myself but when the price is right I can't resist em lol
Interesting. I knew that a coin could be toned artificially, but I never really knew how. I like "naturally" toned coins, ones affected by poor storage, wrapper contamination, or exposure to the air as an ender over time... I understand your enthusiasm.
