Another type coin for me....

Poor-enough storage - in my personal grading spectrum - amounts to circulation, and I'd like this coin far better in an AU slab than I would one labeled "Mint State." Few AU58's are less attractive than any MS61, and there isn't a ton of difference at retail. As it sits, it's a "statement" coin not only poking fun at PCGS but also provoking thought on the part of the viewer. Despite egregious mistakes in TPG slabs, we still tend to agree (within reason) with the overwhelming majority of their work and therefore a coin like this makes one sit back and look a second time to try and visualize why PCGS might consider it only AU50. It's a learning opportunity.

And Gold Beans sure are pretty. :)

Could not agree more. Will always take an attractive eye appeal AU, over a baggy or ugly looking MS coin, any day of the week. I agree with you, and given my friend's input, I am thinking AU55-58. However, I am inclined to get the bean first, and then possibly send it to PCGS to show them the error of their ways, and ask for reconsideration.

In the current market, I'd suspect a Gold bean on a 50 is worth more than a plain 58.

Absolutely-- gold beans in that date, about $500-600. AU58 is high $300s. I paid $150.

$150 + the money spent on gun & ski mask? :p
