Market grading ? So PCGS takes a $50 coin & waves the magic wand- Then kazaam !! Now its worth between $600-$800 :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: 646759-2.jpg 646759-1.jpg Someone should get fired for this! :shifty:

I tend to agree with you on this one. I would much prefer to see this coin in an MS65 holder. It isn't often that you see the "market grade" exceed what the actual toning premium would have generated, but I think this coin accomplishes that.

Decent pattern/color on the reverse, but the grade will certainly carry the price on this one.

If they are handing out high grades on toners I have a few to cross over in older ANACS holders. I'd be happy with 1 point increases.

    Correct Grade should be MS65+

You may have missed your chance as rumor has it they are back in a conservative period (over correction for prior looseness?).

This gets a reverse CAC bean....a solid MS-65/65+

Either way they still need newer slabs and truviews.

Too much chatter on the obverse for the grade.
IDK but was this dipped blast white and then toned after?
Or does everyone feel this is a normal and real toning color pattern?
The amount of bag marks on the cheek, chin and neck stops this from being
a 67. But, they are only monkeys in a cubicle looking at a coin for 10 seconds,
they are going to miss once in a while the closer it gets to banana time.

The toning pattern is common bag toner with two overlapping coins in the untoned area. Colors and progression are quintessential bag toned Morgan.

That's not the type or quality of toning that warrants a two point color bump. PASS

    I'd call it a 65 C quality coin.

I agree with everyone else, a 65 but nothing more. Even for a 65 a little more chatter in prime focal areas than I usually see.

As far as the toning, I have never cared for partially toned coins, finding it a distraction as much as anything. Put the entire reverse in that toning and you have a very pretty coin.

There is no way that is better than an 65.
This is exactly what chaps my hide.
The grade has no merit. And makes them look foolish.

The problem with giving them a pass -
I noticed this coin was overgraded in LESS than 10 seconds. Morgans are one of, if not THE easiest coin to grade. 1882 S is supposed to be held to a higher stamdard than most of the other date /mms..
This isnt a stand alone, one off, instance. I keep seeing this same pattern. Mostly with Morgan Dollars.

They're graded FIRST on luster, and this one does look better than 65 in that regard. But yeah, the bag marks...

Looks like a 65, possibly 65+ to me.

I would probably have guessed 65 on this one. Does the OP have the coin in hand, or are we all just going from pictures. 82-S can have incredible eye appeal that can nudge the grade up, but even so, I don't see 67.
