Second silver quarter in as many days. What do you guys think?

I think my clothes would be cleaner than they've ever been. :greedy:

That quarter looks like it was in a metal coin bezel. The Obverse rim is damaged all the way around. Interesting.

Pretty rough, but silver is silver, and to find it in the wild is super cool

Looks like it's had similar experiences to the one in the other thread. Wonder how many siblings are still there in the laundromat's quarter dispenser? I'm afraid I'd be draining that sucker dry...

I think you should spend more time at that laundromat.

I bet they wrote "coin cleaners" on the front of the store...

Despite going to the bank many times and searching for silver since 1973, I have never ever gotten a silver quarter!

Yeah, 2 silvers in as many days. That's too much of a coincidence. I'm seriously considering going back again tomorrow and getting more and see what happens. You're right. There may be siblings still in there wanting a good home!

Until yesterday the last time I found silver was a 46 dime in a bank roll about two years ago. I can't even remember the last time I found a silver quarter. It's been years and years for sure! I'm actually kinda surprised. I would think in 1973 there'd still be tons of it floating around.

Yea, that's correct. Question though?? Don't Silver coins get rejected in coin machines?

I don't know! Never tried spending silver in a machine. Good question.

Electromechanical coin acceptors, like CoinStar, self-checkout stations, or (modern) vending machines, tend to reject silver (although it's an expensive experiment to try it yourself).

The coin-operated washing machines I've used seem to have a simpler mechanical coin acceptor. Same thing with the deposit-a-quarter shopping carts at Aldi. They'll happily take a silver quarter, or a foreign coin of the right size, or (probably) a slug.

Today's laundromat washers may have a more sophisticated mechanism. It's been a good 25 years since I last used a laundromat.

I'm trying to learn how to grade using the link you showed me without having to ask you guys. So, I'm thinking VG8 or am I being too generous?

Too generous. I’ve been collecting for years and grading is subjective. It’s better to be harder on a coin when you are grading it than lenient.

Luck comes in 3s, keep going back there. When you find the 3rd one then you can take a break for awhile. :)
