He pulled the item---maybe after a good many emails from guys here he decided that it was fake....

As I suspected, an honest gentleman that was unaware of what he was selling. Hey, it could happen to anyone. He did the right thing eventually.

How many of us wrote him, referenced this thread and the like before he pulled it tho? sounds like he was hoping to wreck someone's coin world....

Sapper if he had wanted to do that why did he not take the offer of $350 made by a member of this forum? No I too believe that he was a honest seller, dont forget he also refused to take the $350 and would rather have the auction run (taking offers like that is a ebay no no)
So come on guy's lets at least give this guy the benifit of the doubt.

I emailed him back and forth a couple of times and even pointed him to this thread for information. He was an honest guy but seems to have been offended by just about everything. After he pulled the item from ebay, he sent me a terse email and asked that I not write him any more emails so I quit. He thought you guys were pretty rude too and judged him unfairly. I think he made an honest mistake and was kind of embarrassed by it. Not all sellers on ebay are crooks and con artists. Some people just don't know what it is they are trying to sell.

Well I know that we can't really know what he thought or was thinking when he listed it and maybe he didn't know it---but if it didn't there was no need to get mad at us for telling the truth.....as for juding him unfairly---again---I don't think he should get mad because all we could see was a fake coin and rude emails back from him when we emailed....

I think the "fake" 350.00 dollar offer might have cheesed him off a bit.

Question for you all LOL you know nothing about coins and put a coin up on the Bay someone offers you $350 to close the sale and pull the add  You are a honest dealer and say NO :) Then you get a flood of emails telling you it's a fake and that you are breaking the law by knowingly selling a fake
How would you react? I know how I would react :smile

I would thank the person for informing me...get second and third opinions...and yank it if it were fake...repost it as a magicians coin...no money lost...he found it.

He wrote like a Brit but informed me he was a 100% American. Outside of the Native American population, I have never met one of those.

I don't think a Brit would make so many grammatical errors or use the word "diddly" (which he misspelled).

I think most of them were just typing errors. Diddly is uniquely American in origin for sure. For example:
[Alteration of diddlysh** (influenced by doodly-squat) : diddly (probably from diddle2) + sh**, added as an intensive (from sh**).]

T.V. can account for many "Americanisms" in British culture to be honest. The guy just had a British tone to his writting over the few emails I received from him but I guess that was just his terse manner and indignant replies. Can't say for sure why he sounded like a Brit to me really.
