    Follow-up: coin went for $23,500. That's about 23500/1300 = 18 times the value of an ordinary 1 oz. gold eagle. Subtract the usual buyer's fee, and the consignor (probably APMEX) would have gotten $20,000 or 15.4 times the value of ordinary 1 oz. gold eagle. Not a bad return on investment.
