Here it is: 4-feet 5-inches wide, 8-feet 7-inches tall, large bronzed relief panel (for wall mounting): 3-1/2" x 7" versions (solid cast bronze plaques):
I can't wait until payday, I am getting his Liberty Nickel overstrike and the new Barber ones. They look great.
Thanks. Appreciate it. They are being sent off to ANACS tomorrow. I figure both are 69s, but I am curious as to how ANACS treats the proof like designation-- do they call it MS 69 PL, or PR 69? Both of my other Daniel Carr Barbers, die pair 1 graded MS 69.
I'll bet if you don't tell them their fakes they're so dumb they'll grade them as real. Only one way to really find out...
Obviously ANACS is aware they were produced by Dan Carr and will be placed in the appropriate DC/Moonlight Mint signed slabs .. When you refer to "they're " so dumb who is it that you are referring to ?? Is it one person in particular or the entire staff at ANACS ? I've been a member of different collector and hobby forums and have never seen one where the Moderators allowed the continuation of constant derogatory remarks by the same members .. I have been following some of these DC threads for years, but never felt like getting involved in the same rhetoric.. I have a huge collection of Dan Carr's pieces and enjoy them much more than some of my US Mint issues .. It's our choice to collect what we like and find it offensive that we are mocked for choosing to collect these pieces .. There are many items that others collect that I don't particularly care for, but I would never go out of my way to make that person feel bad about their collection .. As many of you have said in the past "if you don't like them then don't buy them", but the constant derogatory and snide remarks need to stop ..
Well, I don't think I appreciate your using what I said as an opportunity to bash me on what I hadn't said. I have a hard enough time defending what I say, I don't need to defend what I didn't say. And, I'll stand by what I said. Submit one of these fakes in a cardboard 2x2, without giving them the heads-up it's a fake. I don't know they'll catch it.
I own a few of Moonlight Mints products. The quality is great. The two fantasy overstrikes are the '65-D Peace Dollar High Grade and the 1916 Barber 67+ High grade. They are beautifully done. I purchased the Peace Dollar so I can have an example of what they may have looked like fresh out of U.S. Mint dies. I must admit, it's so clean I like my real Peace Dollars better with their nicks and abrasions. I also bought some of the treasure cobs.
Eddie, You are the one doing all of the bashing .. You said "They're so dumb" and I want to know who they are ... Since ANACS is the majority grader of Dans pieces are you saying that the staff there are all so dumb when it comes to numismatics, tokens, medals, etc. that they wouldn't recognize these as Dan Carr pieces ?? I'm fairly sure they must have a few people on their team that have quite a bit of knowledge to do what they do .. Then you keep calling the pieces "Fakes" when they are labeled as tokens on the ANACS label .. Is the term fake not a derogatory labeling of the item ? When you submit it to ANACS it does go in a 2x2 flip and the spot to identify the item .. So what again are you saying other than making snide remarks ? I didn't quote you to single you out, but it appears that in this and past DC threads you are just dying to take cheap shots ..You even asked earlier if it was an invitation to not be nice ? The facts are that many of us enjoy our collections and do not need people constantly hurling mud at them .. I've seen this behavior in many hobby collecting areas and never quite understood it .. If not interested then just say no thanks it's not something that interests me .. That's called being polite
They are fakes, they're not real coins. Isn't that a fact? Are we into political correctness, now, is that it? You took exception with my calling these fakes even though they in fact are fakes? Look, let's simplify this. Do you tell ANACS these [choose your own word] are from the Moonlight Mint, or not? You tell them, don't you? I'm saying, if you don't tell them, I don't think it's a cinch they're going to figure it out. And, furthermore, give me a fair hearing on, "it appears that in this and past DC threads..." How in the heck is anybody supposed to reply to that? Come on, that's unfair. Be specific in your allegations, or drop them.
Fakes of what ?? How can you fake something that was never made in the past ?? I've never submitted any of my pieces to ANACS for grading, but there isn't much space for definition.. If I did it would simply say MM 1916 Barber Half Dollar Over strike.. What you are saying is that if I wrote just 1916 Barber Half Dollar ,that they would grade it real in a plain holder and that is simply ridicous to believe when they deal in numismatics as a full time business.. In regards to your past statements regarding Dans work it would be too easy for me to find examples of snide remarks, plus I'm sitting on the beach right now watching the waves roll in .. I 'lol just stick with your earlier comment in this thread asking if it was an invitation to not behave nicely towards Dan That's enough proof for now
All of the major grading/certification companies make mistakes now and then. The ANACS folks are certainly not "dumb". Some of their top experts have published several references and articles on coin grading and authentication. Michael Fahey writes a column for Coin World, for example. PS: Quite a while ago at this forum you wrote:
Here is a sampling of what Bigpoppa was perhaps alluding to: There are other instances in other threads unrelated to dcarr issues, such as this entire thread about what coin graders get paid: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/what-do-the-market-graders-get-paid.225752/
not correct: There's a sucker born every minute said ABOUT P T Barnum by in criticism of both P. T. Barnum [wiki but accurate.]
Why would you assume this was the quote I was referring to? Barnum had hundreds of quotes......Like this one The plan of ‘counting the chickens before they are hatched’ is an error of ancient date, but it does not seem to improve by age. P T Barnum Kind of rings true huh Frank?
Ah, boy, here we go. Let me get this straight, Moonlight. You actually took the time to go back in my threads and pull out replies totally-divorced from any context in order to make a point some other member in your discerning wisdom was "perhaps alluding to." Is that close enough? Let the record reflect, stalker, I'd respond in kind, but I'm not your kind. Try real hard to get used to it.
