BNC 40.</p><p>Ex AMCC Auction 2, 9 November 2019, lot 147.</p><p><br /></p><p>In 82 Domitian reformed the coinage by raising the weight of the gold, refining the silver, and improving the over all quality. 83 was also a landmark year for his coinage - it was the first year that the all four standard Minerva types were struck together, serving as a blueprint for the remainder of the reign for the precious metal issues. This &#039;type 3&#039; Minerva denarius is from that rare first Minerva issue.
