But since we have been getting a few questions about these lately, I thought I would link to a great post by one of today's best experts in detecting counterfeit and forged 8 reales. You should know the difference between the two terms; counterfeits were meant to circulate alongside the real ones; forgeries are made well after the genuine ones stopped circulating so these are just meant to fool collectors.
