Great coin! What is the facination with 38-D? I dont collect buffalos, though I do have a few for my type set. Are the just in general really well struck compared to other years? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
It's hard to explain. But the '38-D is the last year of the Buffalo, they were really well made and a lot of people kept them, so a lot of them are still around in the higher grades. It's sort of the perfect storm scenario.
I only hope his associates keep it hand washed and waxed for him. You run a car like that through a car wash and that just tells everyone ......that you really live in a trailer park!
Slam dunk at 66 and a pretty full strike from older dies; it's flattened a bit at the edges and recession is visible in places but the bison's (see? I didn't call it a buffalo ) shoulder is well-defined without the "chatter" the TPG's don't seem to mind at the highest points. I would expect to see some of the "S" visible in the center of the D to call it "D/S," though. As it is I'm inclined to think it one of the rare ( ) issues with an original untouched mint mark. Detail images, pls?

Well this one is in a 65 rattler. There is no way on earth it would get a 65 today. Had the luster been slightly better on this one, I would call it a 67 all day long. I think it's superior to the 65 D/D RPM #2 that I recently got a gold bean on. So this one will go into my submit to CAC pile.
however now studying it and checking between varietyvista.com and Wexler it looks like an rpm 012 on Wexler's site . You need to send that one to me run down the PO and over night it
The two lighting atifacts in the first photo, one at center west, top of the D, and the dark one "lower east field" led me to believe it was a Womm -004, your close up looks much different.
You're sending it to Jersey ? OMG! I take it you never been there correct? Have you paid attention to the news lately about New Jersey ? Not good ....
I've never been there. I don't have a desire to either. I know about the State Parks being closed due to budget issues. We almost had that happen here in Washington State just before the 4th of July weekend.
