    Yes. Thats what I meant.

Too bad the Mint Director can't remember that far back.

    Or think that far ahead.

But, I suppose he'll want to be remembered for producing a 28 million coin record for the amount of bullion produced in 09. Seems to me, thats what they wanted in the first place.

Yes those two sets had a bullion dollar in them, but you also paid about an extra ten to fifteen dollars apiece for your bullion coin over what it would have cost from one of the distributors.

    Double Dog Ditto!

I have no clue why they go through those freaking distributors anyway.

Actually, this entire scenario really makes me angry since its laced with just a bit too much baloney!

The Feb 1st Coin World reports that the US Mint began producing the 2010 Bullion SAE's on Nov 10th only to suspend that production two weeks later to resume the 2009 SAE's?

Whats up with that anyway? Do they not have a clue whose ordering what or what?

Don't start something if you don't plan on finishing it. Thats what I believe anyway. Why begin an "annual" set then stop it two years into it. I will tell you why....because they got our money and they could care less. I firmly believe that the mint needs someone who is a collector that understands our needs and interests.

Reminds me of my first company I worked for....the company had tremendous success when run by someone who walked in our shoes. Then he retired and the company hired an outside CEO who had never walked in our shoes. That company has crashed harder than ever. With massive layoffs and firings, the company atmosphere has changed. This may not be true with all companies or jobs, but sometimes it helps greatly when the person in charge has the same interests as their customers.

This is why I always felt that I should run the New York Giants! How about it Ken?!!!! ;)

Starting to produce the next years ASE during the previous year is standard procedure. Starting in Nov is unusually late. Typically they start in August or September. They probably started very late this year because the unusually high demand for the 2009's prevented it. There was probably a lull in November so they started trying to build up a stockpile of 2010 coins. But the demand for the 2009 coins increased again in mid November and wiped out their stocks of those. So they stopped production of the 2010's and diverted those lines back into production of 2009's. Makes perfect sense to me.

Because sales don't make it practical. The Mint is also a business except somethings they have to make by law and others they have the choice to make. Like most businesses they ibtroduce new products from time to time. Those that prove popular and profitable they keep and those that don't they discontinue.
