For sale: a nice Anglo-Saxon penny from the last real Anglo-Saxon king Edward the Confessor (1043-1066). An important historical ruler, as well as a canonized saint, with a major role in the closing stages of Anglo-saxon England. This is the so-called ‘small-flan type’ (Spink 1175, struck 1048 - 1050), and I must say it is kind of hard to photograph due to its smaller size: it is much more satisfying in hand. The coin has a nice bust, with a small flat spot on the chin, but deep relief on the rest of the coin (doesn’t really come across on the photos) with a clearly legible inscription and some amazing details in the helmet! The image shows a minor scratch underneath the bust, but in person this is hardly noticeable. The mint is London, moneyer is Godwine (GOPWINE ON LU). Weight: 0.96 gram. Shipping from the Netherlands. Shipping to the US is 20 bucks at least.

Feel free to ask any question, additional pictures upon request.

    Asking 370$/€320
