I reported this "silver dollar" and eBay said that it was not in violation of their policy.

That's a really terrible fake. Even I could see it was a fake, and I know virtually nothing about U.S. coins.

They should also add the following note in their description "FAUXE TONING OPTIONAL". At least no one bid on it.

I will never again buy coins on eBay. Last month (April) I won a coin in an eBay auction and was charged WI state sales tax. Back in late March the governor of WI signed into law a bill that specifies that coins and bullion are no longer taxed by the state. I contacted eBay and went through the painful process of getting connected to an actual person that I could talk to. I was told that the seller didn't list their coins under the proper category so that's why I got charged state sales tax. I was told that eBay would refund the tax. Well, more than a month later, I still haven't been credited for the tax. I contacted the seller and they indicated that they list their coins properly. So, as far as I'm concerned, I'll avoid eBay like the plague.

With their low resolution photos on all their listings it’s impossible to get a solid idea of the quality of what you’re bidding on. They continue to find new ways to ruin what was once the fun place they used to be. The future for eBay is not in condition sensitive items. It’s in mass retail items.

I refuse to deal with eBay auctions because of their snipping policy. Twice I have finished first in an auction only to have snipper take it away for a few cents over my bid. This is supposed to be fun. With eBay, there is no fun. It is a childish game, I will not play.

They will do nothing about it unfortunately. I'm always reporting Facebook ads as well that sell eagles WAY under spot.

I sell on eBay, I buy on eBay. The only items I ever look at is buy It now.
The auctions are a waste of time.

Do you mean "bargain American Silver Eagles" like this one? Someone went back to 1906 in their time machine, told the mint that ASEs would be issued in the future, had these strike up a few and then brought them back to our time. They are really quite "rare." :chicken:

    Three lies for $1

    It wasn't minted in 1906
    It's not a genuine ASE
    It's not silver
