Big thank you to bhaugh, Melina, and Merc Crazy! Thanks for making trades with me.

That just leaves me down to the 1950-d for this set. I had thought about buying it, but I think I might just let it go, and hope to find one someday. I think it adds a little mystique to the search of it all. Well then again, I might go crazy looking for it, so maybe I'll reconsider after a while and just buy it...haha.

    Thanks again guys!

Congrats on the 39-D find! I have found maybe 4 1939's and I always go "HOLY CRAP!!!!" and then it is a Philly strike. I am still looking to one day pull a any 38 Jefferson, a 39-D and S and a 50-D. I also need a few war nickles.

I think I am going to wait until I've searched 1 million nickels without finding a nice '50-D before I buy one.

IIRC, I'm a bit over 400k right now.

Just out of curiosity how long has it taken you to get to this point?

I contemplated trading but then I realized I've only been trying to fill this album for a few weeks, I really think I can at least get all the wars myself in circulation.

In semi related news I got my silver Roosevelt folder, although I like my Jefferson album a lot more

All I'm missing is the 44-s and the 50-d.

The wars will come... just a matter of time.

new to the forum but long time collector. I'm really enjoying this thread, others who enjoy the feel of opening another roll, sorting, searching, and the fun of finding that one that fills a slot. I have been doing proof sets and unc. sets for a long time but recently decided to fill a couple of albums including a nick album. Still get a kick out of it as much as when I was a kid in the 60's doing it. Well, just wanted to say love the thread and happy hunting.

    Cool welcome softmentor.

I have one slot to go, of course it's the 1950-D. I stopped by a shop today to try and buy one but they didn't have it. Maybe that's a sign that I should just keep searching Nickel boxes for it. :)

I'm done doing Nickel boxes for awhile. I'm sure I'll start up again sometime in the future though, so I think maybe I'll hold off on buying and hope that someday I land one in a box!

    Good luck and HH!

I like holding a few of the harder to find dates and then doing a trade or selling enough to buy the one I want. I have built my entire collection that way. Except for direct purchases of Mint and Proof sets from the US Mint, everything I have started with a coin I pulled from circulation and built up from there.
    thanks for the howdy
great luck and lots of fun to you as you continue collecting
