We’ve had several new Top 10 posts recently and we are currently up to 77 for 2021. Therefore I think it is time to continue with my next “almost made it” coin of 2021.

12 A Philip Tet to Complete the Set

Roman Empire

Philip the Arab

AR Tetradrachm, Seleucia and Pieria, Antioch mint, struck ca. I liked it so much that I decided to go after a mini-set of Antioch tets of the family; Philip I, Otacilia Severa and Philip II. It’s been noted on CT before that Philip I has some extremely artistic portraits that tend to be a bit underrated. This example has a great portrait and excellent centering. The coin looks and feels great in-hand. It is one of my favorite coins for the year and one of my favorite portraits in my collection. A very worthy #12.
