    He has two such books, covering neighboring time periods. The first, published by Seaby and covering 63-49 BC, has life-sized photos which are not as pleasing as the second, covering 81-64 BC and self-published, with enlargements. Both are fascinating, but he is dating the types and his arrangement has not received general acceptance. By that I mean that the dates of Republican types from those time periods are not certain and scholars have said some hoard evidence conflicts with his sequence. The stories of the moneyers involved are excellent and fascinating. I own both and really enjoy them, even if the dates are not quite right.

    That said, they do not have the heft or importance of a $50 book. They are paperback, 222 (81-64) and 206 (63-49) pages. This one is worth the cost:
