Got my Plautilla series too... Plautilla overview A virtual tray showing obverses and reverses of all the silver coins minted for Plautilla that I could find. Including 14 types of denarii from Rome featuring all the known variations of hairdo and reverses, 3 types of denarii from Laodicaea, and as a bonus, a drachm from Caesarea Q
I too would like to know which techniques are being used. All my existing photos are sized 10.5" wide for printing using a PhotoDeluxe photo editor. (I may be the only person left in the world using PhotoDeluxe today). The coin size in each photo is not scaled in any way.
I take my pics with a small copy stand, to which the camera is always attached at the same place, so the distance to the coins never varies. I always keep the original photos, and use those to compose the trays. That way, the coins are always scaled to each other, no matter how I resize the tray. I downsize individual coins when I post them one at a time, however. There really isn't any need for images larger than 1000 pixels wide on the forum, in my opinion.
wow, Cucumbor => you're tossin' out a few pretty sweet lookin' photo-collections (very impressive) ... sadly, I have very limited computer-grAPHIC SKILLS (OH GREAT, IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN!!)
More ? OK, more 30 denarii of the Empire This is a selection of 30 denarii chosen from my collection. Sometimes picking one rather than another is quite difficult. Some might have prefered something else, but this is my "today's special" Q
All these nice groups are making me feel bad about taking the easy out when I did my list of favorites and not maintaining correct sizing. The purpose of that image was to allow clicking and going to the individual page for that coin and the difference between a 5mm coin and a 46mm coin made it impossible to keep rows neat. On the other hand, I did retain sizing on my beginners' slide show and inserted the US cent for scale. I suppose both methods have their place. Now I wonder if I should do a tray of what I buy at the show on Friday rather than my usual series of separate posts. Trays make sense when the coins are related but I like JA's show finds, too. Come to think of it I did that on my first coin show report "The Contest" years ago. That page was the most fun of all my pages. Decisions......
Well, somebody's got to post some ugly coins. Here is a selection of cornucopias on Nabataean bronzes...
astonishing coins are shown here! Unfortunately, I do not have composites since I am not able to cut the coins from the background.
Hey Doug ... ummm, you still haven't gotten around to replacing your Sicily Akragas Trias, eh? (huh, I guess that is always the down-side of these super-cool "presentations" ... they are often a bit too cumbersome to keep "live" and keep up-to-date) ... ... yah, same thing happens in my work-life with some of the 3-D software packages (the stuff is only as good as the amount of energy you want to put into it) ... new models have to be updated with the newest info, otherwise they quickly become "out-dated" ... ooops ... oh, but oh my God!! => awesome efforts, coin-comrades (I would not even know where to start!!) Cheers (salute)
I'll take any of the trays shown, but if I have to select just one, IoM's tray would be mine!!!!!!!!!! Truly, some really nice trays here.
I changed the one on the link but not on the big image. I'll try to remember to do it when I have an update that changes the type on another coin. I can't believe that I have not bought a coin for so long that can crack into the list. I'm trying to decide what to do with the pages of coins that are replaced. Perhaps I will have a 'losers list'?
Coins bought in April. The first ant of Volusian comes from my comrade Mat, who did a great job cleaning it, and check out the double-strike on the reverse of the Diocletian.
I have a different spin on it, making them all the same size and selecting my favorite side of coins (sometimes both) and overlaying them:
