The mark EX. S. C. also denotes certain disbursements made from the public treasury to defray expenses of public games. And in some instances the form was added to the title of pro-consul and of pro-praetor, when those officers, without popular election, were chosen from among the men of consular and praetorian rank, and sent EX.
