Man, this is hard. There are so many coins I would love to have and each one is my favorite when they are posted. But for the time being, I'll select one of @TIF's coins ROMAN REPUBLIC Moneyer Q. Crepereius M.f. Rocus 69 BCE (revised from Crawford's 72 BCE) AR serrate denarius; 3.99 gm Obv: draped bust of Amphitrite seen from behind, with head turned r.; behind, sea anemone; horizontal I to right of right shoulder (only partly visible on this coin) Rev: Neptune in biga of hippocamps right, holding reins and brandishing trident; above, I and below, Q·CREPER·M·F / ROCVS Ref: Crawford 399/1b; Babelon Crepereia 1. My favorite of zumbly is this temple coin fantastic architecture. SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS AE. 12.6g. MOESIA INFEROR, Nicopolis ad Istrum, circa AD 210-211. Varbanov 2795; AMNG 1339; Price/Trell Fig. 26. R: VFL OVLPIAN NIKOPOLIT, PROC IC below, City gate with small tetrastyle temple seen in distance through doorway; above, a colonnaded stoa or sanctuary with three sections.
And here is one of @zumbly's I have admired: ROMAN REPUBLIC. L. Plautius Plancus. AR Denarius. 4.03g, 18mm
@Bing's Fonteius galley denarius: @Ancient Aussie's excellent A-Pi sestertius: @chrsmat71's cool Tetrarchy of Chalkis bronze: Technically, two of @icerain's coins, but they're stuck together and I sure hope he doesn't ever split them apart:
I wish there were a way to search what images have bee posted by member name. I have some coins in mind but have not found them. As I was typing this zumbly posted Bing's Fonteius galley which was one I wanted but it seems a shame to risk overlooking coins I remember but am too tired tonight to go hunting.
Of course I have to add one from my little brother @stevex6 collection LESBOS, Mytilene. EL Hekte – Sixth Stater Circa 454-428/7 BC Diameter: 10 mm Width: 2.44 grams Obverse: Diademed head of SEILENOS (Silenus) right Reverse: Two ram heads butting each other; palmette above; all in incuse square Reference: Bodenstedt Em. 37; HGC 6, 963 Other: 6h … toned From the Kallman Collection
I know there are more from Steve that I really enjoy, but as a late Roman/Germanic collector these two come to mind: 21-nummi coin of the Vandal Kingdom: Carolingian denier of Emperor Charles the Bald: If you ever decide to let go of these, come to me first I'm sure we can work something out
I could go through all the member' postings and find something I would love to have, but last for tonight is one Brian's collection @Alegandron Roman Republic Anonymous Issue ca. 225-212 BCE 23.8mm, 6.46g AR Quadrigatus Didrachm Obv: Laureate Head of Ianus Rev: Iupiter in quadriga driven by Victory ROMA incuse on raised tablet below. Sear 31; Crawford 28/3; Sydenham 64a
