However, I too was a bit confused/misled with the various texts which I read to write the description. They consistently mention the sinking of Caligula&#039;s galley for the building of the Port but never mention why. It would seem like an odd approach to sink a ship just to build a lighthouse on it as the ship would be an invisible obstacle. I&#039;d have to assume it was dismantled and used for some grander purpose but relative to the sheer quantity of marble needed for the entire port, I&#039;d be shocked if it were large enough to provide a substantial quantity relative to the amount which would need to have been imported.[/QUOTE]</p><p><br /></p>
