... your example has more of a "six-pack" than my version (apparently I need to head to the gym?!!) ... great coin, my friend

I'm being facetious of course. These types are a dime-a-dozen in lower grades, but I decided to go full-out and get a respectable example. The one thing it lacks is silvering, but in my book, the engraving style makes up for it more than adequately.

Wow, what a great example! Razor sharp and just about perfectly centred.

The weakness in mine is the off center reverse, but it makes for it with a really nice bright orange sand patina highlighting the choice bits.

Nice coin Z! You and Steve have the taller, leaner versions of Jupiter. The engraver of my piece decided to go short and stout, not only with the god, but with Victory and the eagle as well.

Not boring - beautiful! I have two examples, but they are so poor I won't show them here.

Eh...post them if you like. I've got a handful of less-than-F coins as well, which is what spurred me to get this one. I like the worn ones just as well since some of them have very interesting and complex field marks.

That Jupiter on Steve's coin has a great looking head, especially the hair and the beard. But what is up with that freakishly long index finger though .

Looks like the engraver's tool slipped as he got to the end of the finger.

Another of my Fredericksburg coins was this Licinius from Alexandria.

It would be prettier without the green cover on the burgundy but I have not convinced myself I want to risk the removal. I got it partly because I have a similar Constantine. Alexandria had such a different style for much of the time the mint operated.

I like the pied coin very much Doug! Don't clean it. Us collectors of ancients have it all over the collectors of moderns who only think they collect toned coins. :)

I've seen enough LRB's now that I can spot the Alexandria style without seeing the MM - it is indeed distinctive and handsome. Nice coins!

Here is one of my less-than-FDC specimens, but I like the various marks in the right field...

I do not recall seeing all the toned silver dollars when I was a kid. It is now a fad. I do know that the coins I still have from those days are darker now so I have to wonder how dark the high priced toners will get in another fifty years. I have ancient silver that may not have been cleaned since 'the day' and the color is black. I have ancient silver that was cleaned a few decades ago and now is toning naturally. I'm OK with either color but would not pay extra for a color that may not be here when my grandson is my age.

Will slabs protect and prevent toning changes in fifty years? How do they know?

The appearance of my coins won't matter to me in 50 years. Perhaps they feel the same way.
